HISTORY

Doug Finke is an alumnus of the Original Salty Dogs Jazz Band and Bob Scobey's Frisco Jazz Band, who gave up music in the mid-1960's to raise a family and pursue a corporate life.

In 1996, at the urging of well meaning friends, he picked up the horn again and soon discovered that while there is virtually no traditional jazz happening in Philadelphia, there are many excellent musicians. And so it happened that the Independence Hall Jazz Band was formed.

The band's first booking was in March of 1997. They since have played concerts, corporate events, private parties, weddings, and are now playing in national jazz festivals and jazz clubs along the Atlantic coast. Their first CD, Hot Sweet & Blue, was produced in June of 1999 at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia.
